John joined Mahoneys in 2012 and advises on commercial and civil litigation. He has conducted litigation across a significant range of matters and
has the benefit of several years at a specialist litigation firm. John is well versed to provide timely advice for you to make decisions about
your position and progress it to an end.
John was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court in Queensland in 2004 and holds a Bachelor of Laws from Bond University with a major in Intellectual
Property, Information Technology and E-Commerce law. John also holds a Bachelor of Arts (Design) Industrial Design from Sydney College of the Arts
and was awarded an Australian Design Award in Engineering Design in 2001.
John was appointed an associate of the firm in 2014 and special counsel in 2018. He has had the full carriage of files across a range of matters including
equitable compensation claims for breach of fiduciary and statutory duties, damages claims for breach of contract, intellectual property disputes
for entitlement and revocation of patents, negligence and Australian Consumer Law claims, third party subcontractor claims, body corporate disputes
defending claimed breaches of contract relating to body corporate managers or caretaking services contractors, and estate administration and will
John’s recent experience has included the following matters:
- Advising a resident manager of their contractual and statutory exposure and resolved the owners corporation foreshadowed dispute by agreement at a
- Defending a claim for damage to a motorcycle.
- Resolving a repairs to an aircraft turbine engine dispute heard in the NSW Civil & Administrative Tribunal by way of application for work carried
out on a motor vehicle.
- Prosecuting an entitlement to the intellectual property rights of a registered patent.
