In June 2020 the Federal Government passed new laws requiring every director obtain a Director Identification Number (or DIN). This was part of broader changes aimed at improving the integrity of Australian Business Registers.
The deadline for obtaining a DIN is fast approaching.
Specifically, any director appointed on or before 31 October 2021 must have applied for a DIN by 30 November 2022. A failure to obtain a DIN by the legislated timeframe may result in civil and criminal penalties.
