On 8 April 2020, the Fair Work Commission varied 99 awards during the coronavirus pandemic to include the following:

1. An entitlement for all employees (including full-time, part-time and casuals) to take up to 2 weeks unpaid pandemic leave in certain circumstances. Employees are not required to use all their paid leave before accessing the unpaid pandemic leave. Employees entitlements continue to accrue during the 2 week unpaid pandemic leave.
2. Flexibility for employers and employees to agree for the employee to take twice as much annual leave at half pay.

The variations operate until 30 June 2020 (however this may be extended).
