Mahoneys’ Partner Antony Harrison recently joined Angela Jeffrey, Scott Montefiore (William Buck), Chris Mariani (Medical and General Risk Solutions) and Dr Asif Shahzad, and a room full of Fellows, to discuss strategies for optimising a physician’s financial affairs when transitioning into Private Practice.
The event, organised by The Professional Medical Practice (PMP) and The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP), is part of an ongoing Wellbeing Series focused on providing investment, accounting, legal, and banking strategies specifically designed to meet the needs of medical professionals.
Specifically, Antony covered some of the important legal issues that need to be addressed – including:
- agreements a physician may be asked to sign and the risks they pose;
- how asset protection strategies can be used to protect personal assets from business risks; and
- the interplay between asset protection and estate planning (ie Wills).
A big thank you to the RACP, Tracey Handley (RACP) and Jordan Gardiner (PMP) for arranging this important event. A special thank you to Hannah Parker and Suzanne Stack (RACP) for their efforts in making the event a great success.
Mahoneys’ dedicated commercial team specialises in commercial, consumer and corporate law; commercial property; personal and corporate structuring; and estate and succession planning, with specific expertise on how each of those areas of law affects the medical, dental and allied health industries.
Feel free to contact Antony (who heads up Mahoneys’ medical practice group) if you have any questions about starting, owning, joining, operating and selling a private practice.
