Contract Law Masterclass – Online contracts and electronic agreement

3 February 2026

Later this month Mahoneys’ Partner Rhys Williamson will join other industry leaders to deliver a Contract Law Fundamentals Masterclass. The Masterclass – organised by Crown Leadership International Group – is designed primarily for non-lawyers and provides a practical introduction to the essentials of contracting electronically.

The session will explore key issues including when a contract is required, when a contract may exist without you realising it, and some common traps (like unfair contract terms and breaches of consumer law).

As part of the program, Rhys will present on Online Contract Formation, covering topics such as:

  • how the essential elements of a contract apply in an online environment;
  • ‘electronic’ agreement;
  • the application of Australian Consumer Law to digital contracts; and
  • electronic evidence and record retention, including the importance of audit trails and metadata.

Further details, including how to register for the Contract Law Fundamentals Masterclass, can be found here
