Starting a private medical practice

28 April 2023

Mahoneys Partner Antony Harrison recently joined Paul Copeland (William Buck), Scott Montefiore (William Buck) and Chris Mariani (Medical & General Risk Solutions) and a room full of new Fellows, at The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP), to discuss what to consider when starting a private practice.

Specifically, Antony covered some of the important legal issues that need to be addressed when starting a practice – including protecting personal assets from business risks and the types of legal agreements that might arise in the course of setting up, running and owning a private practice.

A big thank you to William Buck, the RACP and The Professional Medical Practice (PMP) for arranging this important event. A special thank you to Jordan Gardiner (PMP), Tracey Handley, Suzanne Stack and Hannah Parker (RACP) for their personal efforts in making the event a great success.

Mahoneys’ dedicated commercial team specialises in commercial, consumer and corporate law; commercial property; personal and corporate structuring; and estate and succession planning, with specific expertise on how each of those areas of law affect the medical, dental and allied health industries.

Feel free to contact Antony (who heads up Mahoneys’ medical practice group) if you have any questions about starting, owning and operating a private practice.
