Mahoneys partners are pleased to announce the following promotions, which will take effect 1 July 2025:
- James Morgan and Rhys Williamson to Partner;
- Cath Champion, Rebecca Forsyth and Ben Sandford to Special Counsel; and
- Robert Carter to Senior Associate
All those promoted are highly respected lawyers who have made, and will continue to make, an outstanding contribution to the success of the firm:
- James is a QLS Accredited Specialist in commercial litigation. With over 20 years’ experience, he has acted on a wide range of matters including building and construction disputes, commercial disputes, body corporate disputes, and personal and corporate insolvency.
- Rhys is an experienced lawyer who specialises in commercial, corporate and intellectual property law. Rhys regularly acts for SMEs, large private businesses, research institutes, and technology companies with a specific focus on technology law.
- Cath is an experienced lawyer who specialises in estate planning and administration. A Full Member of STEP (the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners(STEP)), Cath’s clients include high net worth individuals and small-to-medium sized business owners.
- Rebecca, Ben and Robert are all experienced commercial litigators:
- Rebecca specialises in commercial disputes, partnership disputes, and property disputes;
- Ben specialises in commercial disputes, body corporate disputes, and planning disputes;
- Robert specialises in commercial disputes, and personal and corporate insolvency.
These promotions, along with the promotion of William Kenny (Senior Associate) and Katya Prideaux (Senior Lawyers) on 1 January, form part of the firm’s long-term strategic plan which includes providing our employees:

- opportunities to develop and progress.
